Waitavala Natural Rock Waterslide
This natural waterslide is a picturesque spot, secluded and fun to explore. Approximately 30 minutes by taxi. The slide is a little tricky but worth the ride for the adventurous type. Wear some old shorts as they may get damaged by the rocks. You can easily combine this trip with the one to the Wairiki Mission or town visit and shopping.
Bird Watching at Nabogiono Farms
Taveuni is host to nearly all of the birds found in Fiji. Nabagiono Farms is located approximately 1.5 hours down the coast. Tour guides are available to guide you through the jungle and treat you with their knowledge of plants, orchids, and Taveuni bird life. Many experts describe it as a memorable experience. In particular you should to try to catch sight of the Orange Breasted Dove and the Silktail, found nowhere else in the world. The entire trip takes 5 to 6 hours.
Korolevu Island
The small island has great snorkeling and a wonderful beach with white sand. Dolphins are often seen just off the beach. Many guests take a picnic lunch, snorkel and spend the rest of the time relaxing on the beach.
Wiwi Village
Wiwi village is a short taxi ride from Vale Sekoula, and you really should visit at least one village during your stay. It’s an experience not to be missed! We would recommend also including a lovo, meke and kava ceremony, all of which can easily be arranged!
Scuba Diving
The Rainbow Reef is commonly recognized as the soft coral capital of the world! Dedicated divers come from everywhere around the globe to experience the magnificent and exhilarating dive sites such as the famed Great White Wall, Fish Factory, Rainbow Passage, and Cabbage Patch to name just a few. If you are not a diver, they also offer snorkel trips that go out with the dive trips. A great option for families who have some members who scuba dive and some that do not. Two great companies to contact. www.saltdiverfiji.comt www.taveunioceansports.com Tell them you are guests at Vale Sekoula House.
Fishing
There are many options for chartered fishing trips on Taveuni. Fishing poles and lures can be provided, or try traditional Fijian hand line fishing if you prefer. Catch Walu, Sanka, Tuna, Red Snapper, and a variety of other ocean fish. At Vale Sekoula we offer our own 6 passenger boat. You can hire it for fishing, snorkeling and sightseeing.

WaterFalls- Taveuni has the best!
The Tavoro Waterfalls (also Tavoro Falls as well as the Bouma Waterfalls or Bouma Falls) are a spectacular series of three waterfalls nestled within the Bouma National Heritage Park- $50FJ per person to enter! The first waterfall, called the Lower Bouma Falls, is said to be 24m tall and is easily the most popular as it allows easy swimming and just a short 10 min walk. Feeling adventurous with lots of energy? Hike to waterfall 2 and 3.
Lavena Coastal Walk-$35FJ per person
On Taveuni, Fiji’s “Garden Island,” you’ll find a lush land made of verdant jungles, coral reefs, and rugged coastlines. The Lavena Coastal Walk is one of my favorite things to do in Taveuni. After you build up a sweat on a 1.5 hour hike (leisurely) walk, you’re rewarded with epic swim-up waterfalls at the end. Time in right with the tide and hire the boat ride back- Extra $fee! Ask to visit the 3 falls by boat on high tide on the way back!!!
International Date Line
Though Fiji adheres to the single time convention, the International Dateline cuts straight through Taveuni, offering visitors a great photo-op and the chance to jump from one day to the next. Take the road uphill from Waiyevo (towards the hospital) and cross the field on the right: you’ll find a big Taveuni map split in two to mark both sides of the dateline. Combine this visit with your visit to town or the natural rock waterslide.
HandiCrafts
The Na Somo Ra Marama Handicraft Centre supports the livelihoods of local women through training to produce unique body adornment, jewellery and handicraft items,
Members of the Na Somo Ra Women’s group have received training to use machines to cut, grind, shape and polish mabe pearls and pearl shells, and to fashion these components into high quality hand-made handicraft items.
Establishment of this handicraft centre has made Taveuni Island the ‘Pearl Hub’ of Fiji, as all raw materials are sustainably and locally sourced.
